Let’s be honest, there are days where I don’t feel like two-strand twisting, braiding, cornrowing, three-strand twisting, or even detangling my hair. On those days, my fingers just quit on me and as if to say, “NO GIRL, COUNT US OUT!”

I know I’m not the only one who is able to attest to this, but at times the natural hair game is a challenge. Can I get an amen?

That’s why we naturals need a safe haven for our curls and tresses. We need a place where we can relinquish our hair woes to the trusting hands of a natural hairstylist. We need a natural hair advocate who can massage away the stress with their fingertips gently pressing into our scalps. We need a hair hero who can save us from doing our hair ourselves!

But who? A good natural hairstylist is like finding a needle in a haystack. They are rare! Don’t fret, I got you girl…if you live in South Florida.

When I’m not in the mood to play Mortal Kombat with my hair, I visit Kinks Couture.

Kinks Couture is a premier natural hair salon located here in South Florida. It is my primary hair salon for everything, kinks, coils, and natural hair couture. I’ve been going to this salon for about three years and I can honestly say that I trust them with my hair.

I got my first hair color there back in 2017. AND that tapered cut that everyone on Instagram went nuts over was done there too.

(Sidenote)

True Story: I didn’t intend on getting a tapered cut the day that I got it. See what had happened was, I went to another natural hair salon to give them a shot and the stylist jacked my hair all the way up. (That’s a story for another day) I immediately called Kinks Couture. Anne Marie, the salon owner, picked up and told me to come in after hearing my fist full of tears on the other end of the phone. She stayed after hours to accommodate me. For that, I’m forever grateful.

Okay, so where were we…

Yes, my salon visit. I recently went there to have my hair washed, deep conditioned, and flat twisted. I took my camera along for the ride so that you could share in my wash day experience. I love the way my hair came out. Check it out for yourself:

If you’re in the area, be sure to check out Kinks Couture. Genece did my flat twist, but all of the ladies are amazing.

There I was in a hot yoga studio with plenty of bright natural light and bending myself into pretzel like positions for the very first time.
