11 Ways to Survive Valentine’s Day for Single Girls

How do single girls survive Valentine’s Day? If you are here, then you are like me; SINGLE on Valentine’s Day. BUT don’t cry girl because I’m about to tell you the 11 best ways to survive Valentine’s Day as a single girl.

You probably should know that I almost had a man for Valentine’s Day. I had my little black dress on deck, restaurant ideas listed, and could smell the roses. My dream Valentine’s Day was ruined when the guy I’d been dating exclusively asked if we could be friends. Friends? You break up with me and then ask me to be friends? No sir!

Needless to say, my little heart was crushed. I wanted to tell Alexa to cue “Bust Your Windows” by Jazmine Sullivan, but I refrained. It’s okay girl, I’m okay and you will be too. Just keep scrolling down for these single girl Valentine’s Day survival tips.

#1 Celebrate Being Single

Celebrate the fact that you are single.Being single is not the end of the world. As a matter of fact, it is quite the opposite. Think of it as an opportunity to get to learn about yourself and hit the reset button on your dating life. As a single girl you can:

  • Date intentionally and collect data on your future ideal mate.
  • Do what you want to do on your watch without having to check in with a beau.
  • You can learn new things about yourself so that you’re able to grow.

#2 Get A Manicure and Pedicure

There is nothing more therapeutic than getting your nails done and sharing your feelings with your nail tech. You might as well talk it out with someone, so why not them?

Single or not, you should always look polished. Looking polished begins with making sure that your hands and feet are done. Get your nails done and start feeling better instantly.

Free Advice: Just in case you didn’t know, men look at your hands and feet first.

#3 Take Yourself To Lunch

You know that fancy restaurant that you wanted to try but never did? Well darling, now is the time to go.

Treat yourself to an awesome lunch and pretend that it’s a date.

Who are you dating, you might ask? You!

You are taking yourself on a lunch date and getting to know you.

#4 Affirm Yourself

You have to know who you are so that you don’t settle for anything less.

Let me say it louder for the people in the back.

Knowing your worth is the ultimate survival mechanism as a single girl.

Affirm yourself by making a list of all of the things that you are. Use the sentence frame, “I am _______.” to identify what makes you uniquely you. Stand in front of the mirror like the boss that you are and remind yourself of your excellence.

#5 Buy Yourself A Gift

I think this is pretty self explanatory . Girl get you something nice. I mean within your budget of course. Ha!

#6 Dress Up

Being single on Valentine’s Day does not give you permission to look busted.

Sorry girl.

Get up, dress up, and show up!

Take the time to look good for you today.

Besides, in order to get the attention of the right suitor, you need to look glamorous.

Looking glam may look different for everyone, but for me, it’s putting on a cute outfit and beating my face.

#7 Buy Yourself Dessert

Okay, if you got this far then that means you understood my last 6 points.

So hear me out when I say this…

EAT THE DESSERT.

Breakups and being alone on Valentine’s Day sucks, especially if you wanted to be in a relationship. I think it’s okay for you to have a sweet treat and cry a little bit.

(This is my truth and I’m sticking with it.)

I normally set a timer for 15 minutes, grab my favorite dessert, and allow myself to feel whatever it is that I’m feeling.

After that, I’m not allowed to cry.

You should try it. Ha!

But in the meantime, pass me a tissue girl and a spoon for this ice cream.

#8 Buy Yourself Flowers

Who said that you had to wait on a man to buy you flowers?

Go to your local flower shop and smell the roses. Take a look at floral arrangements and buy yourself a bouquet.

You deserve to be surrounded by something beautiful.

#9 Visit A Spa

If your coins are cute and you can afford a trip to the spa, I say do it.

A massage never hurt anybody.

Massages are a great way to relax and ease your mind.

Oh, and while you’re at it, throw in a facial too.

Pamper yourself girl.

# 10 Take A Bubble Bath

Light a few candles and throw your own rose petals into an indulging bubble bath.

Bubble baths are a great way to give yourself a little self care.

If taking a bath isn’t your thing, try a warm shower with some aromatherapy and exfoliating body scrubs.

You’re welcome.

#11 Hang Out With Your Girlfriends

You don’t have to be alone on Valentine’s Day. Grab your single girlfriends and make it a ladies night.

You can go out or stay in. It’s totally up to you but just know that you don’t have to be alone. As a result, you’ll feel better about the situation and realize that you are not alone.

No one wants to be alone on Valentine’s Day, but in case you are, just know that you’ll get through it. I hope these 11 single girl Valentine’s Day survival tips were helpful. I’m going to be right there with you on February 14th. From one single girl to another, Happy Valentine’s Day!

Peace, Love, and Curls
